1. 1421: The Year China Discovered America (P.S.) – Columbus, Magellan, Cook, were not the first ones to discover and conquer. They were the first to announce their arrivals and destruction which they caused to the places they reached. The Chinese fleets of Admiral Zheng He and Hong Bao.
2. Media Control, Second Edition: The Spectacular Achievements of Propaganda (Open Media)
A very short read but deffinitely an eye opener for those who still believe that the US government is in the right and following the righteous path. I’m just going to insert a quote from the book:
“That’s the danger of democracy: If oranizations can develop, if people are no longer just glued to the tube, you may have all these funny thoughts arising in their heads, like sickly inhibitions against the use of military force. That has to be overcome, but it hasn’t been overcome….Just having them watch the Superbowl and the sitcoms may not be enough. You have to whip them up into fear of enemies. In the 1930′s Hitler whipped them into fear of the Jews and gypsies….Over the last ten years…some major monster is constructed that we have to defend ourselves against…you could always defend yourself against the Russians. But they’re losing their attractiveness as an enemy, so some new ones have to be conjured up.”
3.The New Father: A Dad’s Guide to the First Year (Mitchell Beazley Health)
A great starter read, or even more than that, I’m no expert it’s my first book on fatherhood, but I found it containing some really good information and ideas for the first year. After that you’ll most likely have to invest into more knowledge, but a lot of the info here will keep you going for a while, even after the first year.
